Configuring SIP Settings

Some SIP-related settings apply to all custom SIP services you configured in the Bria Portal. Go to Settings and Preferences to select your preference.

DTMF

Select a method Bria uses when using dual-tone multi frequency (DTMF) or interactive voice response.

You may need to change this method if you cannot interact with interactive voice response systems — auto attendants, voice-activated menus. Contact your VoIP service provider or your system administrator for the correct setting.

  • Send via RFC 2833
  • Send via INFO
  • Send in-band

In-band means that Bria encodes DTMF signals in the audio stream as regular sound. Typically, DTMF is not send in-band.

You may want to use in-band if all three conditions apply:

  • You own your own gateway.
  • One or more gateways do not support RFC 2833 or do not handle it well.
  • Your gateway is using codes that reproduce DTMF codes well.

In this case, sending in-band ensures your DTMF tones get through because they bypass the gateway and they are reproduced accurately on the receiving end.

SIP Domain Visibility

Decide whether to show or hide the SIP domains of phone numbers and SIP URIs on the Bria screens.

For example, Bria's incoming call screen shows "number@domain" instead of just "number". By default, Bria does not show domains. To change this, go to Settings and Preferences in the Bria Portal menu and select Show SIP Domains.

Note that if you have only one account in Bria, Bria does not show SIP domain even when the Show SIP Domains setting is selected.

P-Asserted-Identity

Disable or enable the use of the P-Asserted-Identity SIP Header with Bria clients for all team members. Disabling P-Asserted-Identity is one way to solve a domain mismatch issue when dialing from call history within Bria.

More info. The P-Asserted-Identity SIP Header is used by a trusted network to show the “real” identity of the caller sending a SIP message. When Bria is configured to use P-Asserted-Identity, Bria stores it as the URI for the incoming call in call history record, which is later used for dialing back from call history. In some environment where P-Asserted-Identity is used, this behavior causes a domain mismatch, which results in error when dialing back from call history in Bria.
