Configuring dial plans

In Bria, a dial plan can be used to modify how your calls are placed. For example, a dial plan can change any number that starts with “+1613” to “613”. A dial plan is used for any combination of the following reasons:

  • To modify (transform) the input (the number to be dialed), such as to add the “9” required to obtain an outside line from a PBX.
  • To select the account to use to place a call, if users have more than one account. For example, to use Account 1 to dial a number starting with 61, and use Account 2 to dial a number starting with 64.

You can create dial plans for your own SIP accounts. No dial plans are available for the Team Voice account.

Example

Your phone system requires to add "9" to dial external numbers while no modification is needed to dial internal extensions.

In this case, you want to create a dial plan that adds a "9" to all 11-digit numbers starting with 1.

1xxxxxxxxxx;match=1;pre="9";

With the above dial plan, 18605551212 is dialed as 918605551212. A 4-digit extension is dialed as is without using the dial plan because 4-digit extensions do not match the pattern configured (i.e., 11-digit numbers starting with 1).

Dial plan syntax

Bria uses the desktop clients syntax for dial plans. See more details on Syntax for dial plans.

Setting up a dial plan for your SIP account

A dial plan belongs to a custom SIP account.

Some changes require team members to restart or re-login to their client applications. These changes are identified by Restart Client Apps. As a team admin, you can log out the user's devices to facilitate the process.
